Simmone Jade Mackinnon reflects on Stevie and Alex's unforgettable love story on McLeod's Daughters: 'It was just... weird!'

"It was just... weird!"
That's the hilarious reaction Simmone gave when asked about the moment her McLeod's Daughters character Stevie Hall started a romantic relationship with Alex Ryan (Aaron Jeffery) for the very first time.
"They strung us along for years, and there was all that banter for years and years... and then all of a sudden, we're kissing!" she laughed.
The nation were in awe of Stevie and Alex on McLeod's, with their relationship built on years of banter and tension as fans waited patiently for their eventual romantic payoff.

When it finally happened, the duo quickly cemented themselves as one of the most beloved couples in the show's history – and in the video above, Simmone reveals just what made the dynamic so special.
"I just loved working with Aaron," Mackinnon shared. "Aaron and I had a very similar relationship to Stevie and Alex.
"Not the romantic side, but the sort of love-hate, brother-sister thing.
"The early days of Stevie and Alex were how Aaron and I were in real life. We've got a lot of banter, a lot of teasing – it's just a love-hate kind of thing."
From rivals to friends to lovers, the build-up spread over four seasons and resulted in the couples marriage and the birth of their son.
The actress had so much to say about the love story, revealing the favourite episode they starred in together and what it felt like to be in the power couple.
