Simmone Jade Mackinnon reveals behind-the-scenes secret no one knew while filming Claire's death on McLeod's Daughters

McLeod's Daughters fans still get emotional over the show's most devastating scene in history: the tragic death of Claire McLeod.

During the 2003 episode, Claire (Lisa Chappell) plunged off a cliff after losing control of her car – and even over 20 years on, her co-star Simmone Jade Mackinnon describes it as "the worst TV death ever, in my opinion."

Mackinnon, who played Stevie Hall, opened up about the harrowing moment in our exclusive video above.

"I still can't believe that was able to be aired," she said. "If you were to put [the scene] on now, I would cry, for sure. I will cry like a baby watching that scene anytime."

But filming the scene came with some real-life drama, with Mackinnon discussing a behind-the-scenes secret that fans wouldn't have known at the time.

"It was such a chaotic shoot. But when you watch the final product, it's so realistic," she explained.

Claire McLeod's death wasn't just devastating for fans; it marked a turning point for the series.

As one of the central characters and co-owner of Drovers Run, Claire's presence was a cornerstone of the show.

Her loss reverberated throughout the series' remaining seasons, driving significant storylines and reshaping the dynamics between the beloved characters.
