First look at Stan's new docuseries Dr. Death: The Undoctored Story

Stan's true crime series Dr. Death is inspired the smash hit podcast of the same name, which tells the nightmarish story of Dr. Christopher Duntsch.

The series is fascinating and if you've already binged the eight episodes, Stan has a docuseries coming too.

Dr. Death: The Undoctored Story is the first documentary series about the infamous neurosurgeon who was sentenced to life imprisonment after maiming, harming, or killing 33 patients who came in for complex but routine spinal surgeries in the Dallas, Texas area in the early 2010s.

The four part docuseries will offer audiences the chance to hear and see the whole story, told by the real people who survived it.

"Doctors are taught to do no harm, but then we had the equivalent of a medical serial killer on our hands," one man says in a trailer for the docuseries.

In addition to interviews with the real-life Dr. Robert Henderson, Dr. Randall Kirby and Michelle Shughart, the docuseries will feature new conversations with others closest to Duntsch and his criminal case.

This includes Jerry Summers, Duntsch's best friend who he paralyzed following two surgeries; Wendy Young, the ex-girlfriend of Duntsch and mother to his two sons; Dr. Joy Gathe-Ghermay, the anesthesiologist during Jerry Summer's horrific surgery; Dr. Mark Hoyle, a Texas surgeon who physically tried to stop Duntsch during a surgery; Tex Muse and Pamela Trusty, two of Duntsch's victims; and lawyers from the trial.

The documentary seeks to answer the question that has followed accounts of these maimings around since they were first told: were the injuries and deaths on purpose, or was it simply the result of a failing system that allowed Duntsch to continue to operate?

"Christopher Duntsch turned his best friend into a quadriplegic," another man says in the trailer.

"How many people did he need to cripple? How many people did he need to kill?"
