Why 'Naked Attraction' is your new favourite guilty pleasure

It's cheeky, it's awkward, and it's definitely NSFW. Naked Attraction might be the most talked about UK reality show of the year, and here's why -- while contestants are predominantly judged on looks, the show eliminates the traditional inclusion of 'clothing'.

"We've all been caught out by fancy filters and exaggerated online profiles," says host Anna Richardson, who promises "a more instinctive way to find love".

With its 'let it all hang out' approach, 9Now's sexy new series sees participants stripping bare to find their perfect partner in the naughtiest social experiment seen on television. 

This show offers dating in reverse, and it's totally compelling.

Here's how it works…

There are six coloured pods containing naked singles whose bodies are gradually revealed, from the feet up.

Facing them is their potential love interest, who remains clothed until the end.

If the clothed contestant likes what they see, they can zoom in on an individual body part. At the end of each round, they choose one single to eliminate.

Throughout the episode, Richardson drops in quaint facts about anatomy with the help of animated videos, like why men's noses are generally bigger than women's. (A larger nose is needed to inhale more oxygen to build muscle mass, FYI).

When there's nothing left to be physically revealed, the naked contestants are asked to speak. This provides the chooser with another characteristic to deem attractive or not… their voice.

They can also perform other random tests, such as smelling the breath of the nude contestants, or measuring their bits and pieces. 

With only two nudies left, it's the main contestant's time to strip down. Freshly stripped, they return to the stage and come body to body with their two potential dates.

They must then choose between the two remaining contestants. Whomever they choose will be taken on a date, with clothes on this time.

There is a full spectrum of contestants on the show -- gay, straight, trans, polyamorous, you name it -- and it makes for addictive, boundary-pushing TV.
