Victoria Beckham speaks for the first time since divorce rumours: 'I am trying to be the best wife'

Marriage and motherhood aren't walks in the park, even for celebs like Victoria Beckham. And when divorce rumours are constantly surrounding your marriage to David Beckham, the pressure is definitely on.

Opening up about her family life at the Forbes Summit in New York on Tuesday, the fashion designer admitted that she's doing the best she can.

"I try really, really hard. I try hardest to be the best mother. I am trying to be the best wife and the best professional," Hello! magazine reported her saying at the event. "When I get home, I try to put the phone down and spend time with the children and spend time with David."

Although the mum to Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 15, Cruz, 13, and Harper, 6, often couldn't help but "hide in the bathroom at weekends just to send a little email," Victoria said that if it weren't for David's full support, she wouldn't have a handle on her work-life balance.

"I have the support of an incredible husband," said the former Spice Girl, 44. "We really are equal with everything we do at home with the children. When I'm away, he's the one doing the school run and doing the cooking."

Earlier this month the couple were forced to speak out after sensational rumours spread that they had split because 43-year-old David allegedly had an affair with Harper's teacher, and that the teacher was pregnant with his child.

"[Victoria and David are] not divorcing or splitting, and reports to the contrary are false," the rep told Entertainment Tonight of the couple, who'll celebrate 19 years of marriage on July 4. "It is absolutely not true."

And just to prove their love was stronger than ever, David reportedly bought Victoria her 14th engagement ring, which she flaunted at Men's Fashion Week in London two weeks ago.
