The Voice: The selfless way Delta Goodrem nursed Judah Kelly back to health

Audiences gasped during The VoiceThe Voice when Judah Kelly opened his mouth after delivering an incredible performance of 'Iris':

His speaking voice was almost completely gone.

"I got laryngitis at the worst time possible," he tells TheFIX.

Now, the 20-year-old Queenslander is "still a bit croaky" but almost completely recovered – thanks to some TLC from coach Delta Goodrem.

"I went and saw Delta's doctor, and Delta lent me her steamer and all the vocal teas and lozenges she has," Judah tells us. "She's doing everything she can to help me. She doesn't have to do that. That's time out of the show that she doesn't have to give.

"She'll send a random text during the day just to see how I'm doing."

And even when he's not ill, Judah says, his superstar coach, 32, has gone above and beyond to connect with him throughout The Voice.

"Delta likes to push the boundaries, and it forced me to open up," he says. "She helped me talk about how I'm feeling. Obviously, I'm not the only who has doubts and worries. It helps that Delta put so much time in – time and effort to know me."

Judah will have an extra support system in place when he goes head-to-head against the other three finalists during Sunday night's live Grand Finale: "My parents, my brother and sister, my sister's kids, and her husband will all be there."

As for his post-show plans, win or lose, he says, "I just want to create good music. That's the goal. To make a living off music that I love.

"I want people to get a slow punch right in the feels when I play."
