The truth is still out there! <i>The X-Files</i> set to return to TV

Fox TV reps confirmed to Deadline that they're in talks with The X-Files creator Chris Carter to revive the long-running sci-fi series.

But the biggest issue is aligning the schedules of stars' David Duchovny (who played Fox Mulder) and Gillian Anderson (who played Dr Dana Scully).

Gillian, 46, is busy shooting Hannibal, while David, 54, is starring in Californication and 2015's Aquarius.

The popular series ran for nine seasons and spawned two films between 1993 and 2008.

'90s TV fans will also be pleased to know that Laura Palmer is also returning for David Lynch's revival of the Twin Peaks franchise.

That's right, actress Sheryl Lee, who played the prom queen, has agreed to return to the popular series coming to Showtime next year. See the video below for a retro flashback...

Kyle MacLachlan will also be returning to the show, 25 years since the chilling finale of the crime drama aired.
