The Superjesus frontwoman Sarah McLeod forced to drop guitar mid-show to break up fight

The Superjesus frontwoman Sarah McLeod was forced to step in when a couple of “bad eggs” caused drama at a recent gig. 

The 53-year-old rocker called out bad behaviour from fans, after she had to break up a fiery row in the audience at a show on the NSW Central Coast. 

McLeod shared a video posted by a fan of the moment she spotted the fight unfolding in the mosh pit and stopped the band. 

The Superjesus band had just started to play their hit Down Again. 

In footage shared from a fan who was near the front, McLeod saw the fight break out but kept singing.

She tried to sing through it, even changed the lyrics to yell, “Hey, get off him,” but it didn’t do anything to stop it.

McLeod saw it getting out of hand and yelled at the band to stop the music.

In the caption on Instagram McLeod shared that she almost jumped off-stage herself, but decided against it. 

“This was actually a bit of a scary moment,” she captioned the post. 

“After this I dropped my guitar and bolted over to grab security to stop the fight. I almost jumped in but I knew that was dumb. No one was hurt then the band smashed back into Down Again from the pre chorus we had stopped at… that was the fun part… everyone just hit back in on the same beat.

“I was impressed with the band in that moment 😎 rock n roll telepathy @camblokland @sturudd @bentodd thanks for capturing the good stuff again @janerybarz ❤️.” 

McLeod shared a follow-up post about bad behaviour at gigs, and clearly she is fed up with it. 

“I am tired of hearing feedback about drunk blokes in the audience acting disrespectfully,” read the text in a post shared on her Instagram. 

“It wasn’t just the punch up in Bateau Bay; I get a lot of messages from fans about their experiences.”

The rocker shared some examples of stories from people who had experienced this first hand, reiterating her point. 

In the caption she explained that in the morning after a gig she would wake up to numerous messages from fans who had been in the audience. 

“I’m over just apologising for other people. Just think of it as a family… or friends you haven’t met yet… we’re all there for the same reasons,” she wrote. 

“Music is healing, gigs are therapy. Think twice before you make moves that might stay with someone longer than it stays with you. It’s easy and it’s fun… I know you’ve got it in you.”
