Kellie Finlayson has candidly admitted she’s “terrified most of the time” amid her stage four cancer fight.

Kellie, 30, who is the wife of AFL star Jeremy Finlayson, is battling bowel cancer that has metastasised in her lungs. She made the confession in a raw post shared with her followers on Instagram on Thursday evening.

Kellie’s post was about all the things people say to her as she battles cancer, and the replies she wishes she could hit back with.

“‘You’re so brave,’” she wrote in her post on one slide.

“I’m actually terrified most of the time,” her response was.

Kellie, who was diagnosed in 2021 at age 25, says she often gets the remark, “‘You’re too young.’”

“I know, that’s kind of the whole problem,” she wishes her response could be.

The mother-of-one added that she often gets other comments like, “You don’t look sick” and, “You’re so strong”.

She captioned her post: “After almost five years of commentary I could make a whole series on these but here, have a little insight into my idea of humour 🫠🤪.”

Just last month, Kellie revealed she had surgery on her left lung, a wedge resection, amid her battle.

A wedge resection is where surgeons remove a triangle-shaped piece of lung tissue.

She previously had a right lung wedge resection.

“Little update – it’s been two weeks since my left lung wedge resection & I’m finally picking up the pace with recovery, it’s been slowwwwww and I’ve been puffed to put it lightly,” she said in her post.

“Good news is as always surgery went super well, I went in pretty confidently knowing how well I bounced back after my right lung wedge resection last March.

“But more resections to remove tumours/cancerous tissue were necessary which means a lot more staples than anticipated are also sitting pretty in my lung… like the most my surgeons ever left in a single lung.”

Kellie recently told nine.com.au about her diagnosis and her battle, saying she was in shock after hearing the news after a colonoscopy.

“I’ve wiped most of it, which I guess is a trauma response,” she said.

“I don’t remember a hell of a lot [of that day]. I remember getting the news and then being home, which is kind of scary. Lucky I wasn’t driving, because I wouldn’t have remembered getting home.”

“And within 24 hours, I was diagnosed stage four. So it was very quick.”
