Sylvia Jeffreys and Peter Stefanovic welcome baby boy: 'He's absolute magic'

Sylvia Jeffreys and Peter Stefanovic have welcomed their first child.

The Today Extra co-host shared the exciting news in an Instagram post on February 6.

"Our beautiful boy, Oscar Hamilton Stefanovic," Jeffreys, 33, captioned a sweet snap of the newborn. "3.4kg, deep blue eyes and perfectly healthy. He's absolute magic."

Stefanovic, 38, shared his own post shortly afterwards with a photo of Jeffreys holding baby Oscar.

"We've got our own Oscar! I'm so unbelievably proud of @SylviaJeffreys and our new best mate. Love is strong. Life is fantastic."

Karl Stefanovic, brother to Peter, shared his joy on The Today Show this morning after the news was announced.

"My gorgeous brother Pete, and my even more gorgeous sister-in-law, Sylvia, have welcomed a beautiful little boy into the world," he told viewers. "Aw [it] makes me want to cry. That's little Oscar Hamilton Stefanovic weighing in at 3.4kg. He's perfectly healthy, Sylvia says. Sylvia says 'Mum and Dad are completely smitten'. Congratulations to you both. Well done Sylvia, that is a gorgeous, gorgeous creation."

On Instagram, friends of the couple shared their love in the comments.

"Congrats guys. He's absolutely gorgeous, love the name," wrote Kyle & Jackie O Show host Jackie 'O' Henderson.

Bec Judd commented, "Congratulations. What a beautiful boy x."

"Oh my goodness! Wonderful news, welcome to the world little Oscar, what a great life you're going to have with the parents you've chosen. So very happy for the three of you," said journalist Leila McKinnon.

Little sweetie," said fashion designer Rebecca Vallance. "Cannot wait for cuddles the second I'm home."

The couple announced they were expecting their first child on August 19.

"We're having a baby boy and we're totally over the moon!!" Jeffreys wrote on Instagram, sharing a photo of herself and her husband.

In his own social media post, Stefanovic shared a photo of a card which read "IT'S A BOY" and wrote, "Soon to be a family of three and we are rapt! Good thing I'm already match fit with the whole no sleep thing ."

The happy news comes almost three years after Jeffreys and Stefanovic tied the knot in a stunning ceremony in the New South Wales' Kangaroo Valley in April 2017.

The pair exchanged vows in front of an A-list crowd at the Ooralba Estate, a charming property in the Southern Highlands region.

Months after the nuptials, Jeffreys told the Australian Women's Weekly that children were always in their future.

"We'd love a house full of kids," she told the magazine.
