Susan Boyle has abruptly cancelled a comeback performance in the US, saying she had to because her manager was warned not to fly.

Boyle, 65, just revealed her new look and teased her new era just two weeks ago. Her now-cancelled show at the David Yarrow Foundation on June 12 was supposed to give fans the first glimpse at the Opera singer’s career resurgence.

However, On Monday, the Scottish singer announced that she was forced to pull out of the show because her manager was unable to travel following emergency dental work.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances following a dental procedure, my manager has been advised not to fly, which sadly means we’re unable to make the journey,” she wrote on Facebook.

“I was really looking forward to being there and supporting such a wonderful cause, and I’m so sorry for any disappointment this may cause.”

“Sending my love and best wishes to everyone involved for a very special evening.”

Fans were quick to jump to the comments to express their disappointment, with hundreds of replies to the post, pleading with Boyle to “leave” her manager at home.

“Leave your manager recovering, we’ll all come with you...we can manage you,” one person wrote.

“Um, the manager had the dental work, not you. Lame,” another wrote.

“Susan! You are grown up! You don’t need your manager to come along,” a third wrote.

The announcement comes just two weeks after the Britain’s Got Talent star announced a dramatic makeover and return to music after a years-long hiatus.

“A new era starts tomorrow,” she teased in an Instagram post on May 28. The singer shared photos of a glammed-up tracksuit and fur coat look, with an Anna Wintour-esque blonde bob and sunglasses.

Boyle labelled the post an ad, which certainly added to the confusion, but fans couldn’t contain their excitement about her fashion-forward return – even high-profile ones.

“I dreamt this dream,” Katy Perry wrote, referencing Boyle’s famous cover of the Les Misérables song.

“Anna Wintour better sleep with one eye open!!!” another said.

In 2023, she revealed on stage at Britain’s Got Talent that she had suffered a minor stroke the year before.

“I thought it would be crazy to be back on stage and I have done it!” she said.

Boyle didn’t win her season of Britain’s Got Talent but she went on to have a successful recording career, releasing seven albums between 2009 and 2016.
