Emma Bunton weighs in on Mel B's claims she had sex with Geri Halliwell
Spice Girl Emma Bunton has given her two cents after Melanie Brown's shocking admission she allegedly once had sex with her bandmate Geri Halliwell.
After Scary Spice, 43, claimed that she had a night of passion back in the day with Ginger Spice, a rep for Halliwell, 46, denied that the romp ever took place, calling the allegations "hurtful to [Geri's] family."
Appearing on Virgin Radio's Breakfast Show, Bunton, 43, broke her silence on Mel B's recent slip of the tongue.
"It's the first I've heard of it, let’s put it that way," said Baby Spice. "It's the first I've heard of it."
Bunton went on to say that she had not watched the interview in which Mel B made the claims, however she did say that she had received "lots and lots" of texts in regards to the surprising news.
When pressed by the show's host Chris Evans if it was merely a publicity stunt in order to instigate interest in the band's upcoming world tour, Bunton said, "That's how I feel, it’s a laugh," she said. "Also, with Mel, you take everything with a pinch of salt. She's great fun."
Backtracking on her comments shortly after the news broke, Mel B appeared on British 2Day FM's Breakfast with Grant, Ed & Ash.
"It wasn't, like, a big deal," she told the show's hosts. "We've known each other for 20-plus years. It was just one of those things that happened one night."
She added: "I just said it was, like, a little thing and we giggled about it the next day and that's that... I just admitted we had a little bit of a thing back in the day at one time. And that's it."
