Oscar-nominated actress Samantha Eggar dies aged 86 as her daughter pays tribute

Hollywood is mourning the loss of acclaimed actress English actress, Samantha Eggar.

Eggar, known for films including 1965's The Collector and 1979's The Brood, passed away at the age of 86.

Her actress daughter Jenna Stern, 58, confirmed the sad news of her passing to The Hollywood Reporter and revealed she died in California reportedly following five years of illness.

Jenna, who is known for her work in House of Cards, also shared a touching tribute to her late mother on her public Instagram account with fans.

"Beautiful, intelligent and tough enough to be fascinatingly vulnerable...Samantha Eggar (1939–2025)," it began.

Jenna revealed in her tribute that she was right by her mother's side as she passed.

"My Mama passed Wednesday evening. Peacefully and quietly surrounded by family. I was there next to her… holding her hand, telling her how much she was loved.

"It was beautiful. It was a privilege. xoxo J," she finished.

One follower commented underneath: "She was wonderful. I adored her. Lovely to the end. Our deep condolences on her passing."

Eggar's fullname was Victoria Louise Samantha Marie Elizabeth Therese Eggar.

The late star was born in the UK, but moved to the U.S. where she married filmmaker and actor Tom Stern.

The redheaded star sure made a name for herself in Hollywood, being also known for films including Doctor Doolittle and the popular show All My Children.

According to her Imdb profile, she voiced some characters in her later years and even did some TV work around 2011 and 2012.

The star was nominated for an Oscar for her role in The Collector.
