Robert Irwin reveals the one thing he is looking for in a future partner

Robert Irwin is one of Australia's most eligible bachelors and there is one thing he is looking for in a future partner. 

The Wildlife Warrior revealed he is single while speaking with the Today show at Australia Zoo.

Leading a public life, Irwin says he wants any future romances to start authentically.

"I am one of those people where [I] let it happen; I'm going to let it unfold as it will," he said.

Irwin confessed that he looks to his family as "inspiration", looking up to his late dad, Steve Irwin and mother, Terri Irwin's relationship.

"I look at my sister; she found Chandler," he said, referencing Bindi Irwin's relationship with Chandler Powell, which has spanned more than a decade.

The couple share a daughter, Grace, three, whom they welcomed in March 2021. Irwin told Today that being an uncle is "the best job ever". 

Irwin said he knows there is "someone out there" for him and revealed the one thing any potential girlfriend would need. 

"They're going to have to be a goer," he said, adding they would need to be "in this kind of lifestyle" referring to his family's dedication to wildlife preservation and conservation. 

Irwin continued: "It's here, it's there, it's everywhere, but I would definitely one day love to, of course, share this wonderful life with someone special.

The television personality says he is "still looking" for love and that "It'll happen when it happens."

Irwin was previously in a relationship with Rorie Buckey. The former couple is believed to have started dating in late 2022, though they didn't go public with their romance until July 2023.

The pair called it quits in February 2024 after more than a year of dating, with Buckey sharing a joint statement with their Instagram followers. 

"We wanted to share that we have decided to go our separate ways but profoundly appreciate all of the time spent together and wish one another all the very best into the future," it began. 

"We wish to express the gratitude and respect we have for one another as we continue on our journeys to different paths."

"We won't be commenting further on this, and really appreciate your respect and privacy at this time," the statement concluded.
