Amy Schumer has been forced to cancel her upcoming performances in Texas as she is hospitalised with severe nausea.

The 37-year-old actress and stand-up comedian, who is pregnant with her first child, confirmed the news on Instagram on November 15 (November 16 AEDT). Sharing a photo of herself in her hospital bed, Schumer, who is now in her second trimester, explained she has been ill with hyperemesis gravidarum. The condition is a severe form of morning sickness associated with pregnancy.

"Texas I am so deeply sorry," the Trainwreck star began. "I have been really looking forward to these shows. I have to reschedule. I am in the hospital. I'm fine. Baby's fine but everyone who says the 2nd trimester is better is not telling the full story."

"I've been even more ill this trimester. I have hyperemesis and it blows," the I Feel Pretty star added light-heartedly. "Very lucky to be pregnant but this is some bulls--t! Sending so much love to the doctors and nurses taking great care of me and Tati! They are cool as hell! And Texas I am really really sorry and I'll be out there as soon as I'm better."

Schumer confirmed she was expecting her first child with husband Chris Fisher in a cheeky Instagram post shared on a friend's account. In an Instagram Story supporting voting during the US midterm elections, Schumer casually confirmed: "I'm pregnant."
