'I'm done': Real reason behind Pink's cryptic social media post revealed

Pink has broken her silence after quitting the social media platform X, previously known as Twitter.

The singing sensation, 44, who is currently in Australia on tour, appeared on the Hit Network's Carrie & Tommy show, and revealed she got death threats and experienced "absolute hatred" on the platform before she decided to leave it all together.

"Oh, hell yeah. I feel free! Yes, I'm done," Pink told hosts Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little.

"I've had so many beautiful experiences on Twitter and made so many wonderful connections that I would never have had otherwise," she continued. "But that's not what Twitter is anymore…"

"Now it's just a cesspool of unhappy people that go on there to dump. It's just not good for your mental health," she claimed.

Pink, whose real name is Alecia Beth Moore, said one person told her they hoped she ''dies slowly".

"I did an experiment where I just (tweeted) a dot, a period. And the things that people said to me… 'I hope you die slowly' … 'You're dumb' … and a couple of other people were like, 'Did you mean to do that?'" she said.

"But, for the most part it was just absolute hatred. I was like, yeah, I need to remind myself and other people that you do not need to participate in any of that, and I'm just not going to participate anymore."

Her profile on X is still there at the time of publishing, however, all her tweets have been deleted.

She previously shared a cryptic message on X to her 30.7 million followers, days before her Australian tour kicked off. 

At the time, she hinted she intended to delete her account on the social media platform because of trolls. 

"Have you ever been at a party with a bunch of salty old people that never realised their dreams?" she wrote.

She continued: "Where the liquor ran dry ages ago, there's no music-no one's dancing-you would've had more fun at home with your blind cat?"

"That's twitter these days – or whatever it's called now. Byeeeeeeeeeee."

It's also been reported that a few minutes later she made a second post that read, "This account will self-destruct in two minutes. Do it!!!!"

However, she deleted it two minutes after posting.

Her post sent fans into a frenzy wondering when she would delete her account on the platform. 

"You got toooooooo thick of skin to let this stuff eat at you Alicia [sic]. Remember where you came from," responded one user, while another simply wrote, "pls don't leave us."

The Funhouse singer is no stranger to clapping back at internet trolls, having recently responded to a critic who highlighted the fact she "got old".

"Yes, although I don't feel old, and I still get to wear a leotard to work, growing older is actually my first 'grateful' every day," Pink responded via X.

"What a blessing to have life, years. To be this strong, to be able... To still piss off complete strangers just by existing. F--k yeah times 44!"
