Pierce Brosnan pays tribute to his late daughter

Pierce Brosnan has paid tribute to his late daughter, Charlotte Brosnan, after her tragic death from ovarian cancer.

The 67-year-old former James Bond star has marked the seventh anniversary of Charlotte's passing with a post on his Instagram page. Charlotte died in 2013 at the age of 42.

Brosnan captioned the image: "Here's looking at you kid... in remembrance of Charlotte and with happy birthday wishes for my darling Marley May [Brosnan's granddaughter]. Photo by @keelyshayebrosnan ".

Charlotte died from the same illness that claimed the life of her mother — Brosnan's wife Cassandra Harris.

Brosnan adopted Charlotte and her brother Chris, now 46. Charlotte and Chris' father, Dermot Harris, died in 1986. The actor then had a second son with Cassandra named Sean Brosnan, who is now 36 and a filmmaker.

Brosnan has also suffered recently after the coronavirus pandemic took the lives of two of his close friends.

For the cover story of the latest Parade issue, the 67-year-old former James Bond star described the pandemic as "a war" and called COVID-19 an "awful threat to life looming."

"I lost two friends to COVID-19. They were friends of 45 years, and I am godfather to his son," he told the magazine. "No matter where you are and how beautiful it may be, you still have this awful threat to life looming. You have to keep pushing the rock uphill, and you have to keep involved in life. We are at war. People are dying."
