'It took a long time': Penny Lancaster's tearful admission about early days of relationship with Rod Stewart and his family
Penny Lancaster and Sir Rod Stewart have one of the most rock-solid celebrity marriages around, having been married since 2007.
Now, the English model turned special constable, 54, has spoken out about the early days of their relationship and what it was like coming on board as a stepmother to Stewart's children.
The Da Ya Think I'm Sexy? hitmaker, 80, is a father of eight and shares two kids with Lancaster.

The couple sat down for a chat as part of Anita Rani's My Life At Christmas, when Lancaster reportedly broke down in tears as she spoke about how it took for them to become bonded.
"It took a long time," she said.
"But we got there and we have got to a place that I never thought I would get to with them."

But Lancaster said she was careful with her approach and was mindful of the kids.
"I tiptoed very lightly," she said.
"Because there were lots of personalities, and more important, there were children ranging from all ages."
The musician also added about their relationship: "There is a maturity I may have taught Penny and there is an honesty she has taught me."
The pair met back in 1999 and married in 2007.
Stewart has always been a family man and in total, he has eight children from his three marriages and ex-girlfriends.

"I have to be several different fathers because of the different age groups of my kids," Rod previously said, according to People.
"You really have to treat all of them as individuals with individual problems.
"What makes me happiest now is seeing all my kids and my wife with big smiles on their faces."
