Arnold Schwartzenegger's son shares stranger's kind act amid panic buying

In a time where it's near-impossible to find toilet paper in a supermarket, and where fights even break out over a 12-pack, it's nice to see people showing some humanity towards each other.

Actor Patrick Schwarzenegger took to Instagram to share his supermarket story, when, in the search for an elusive roll, a fellow shopper selflessly offered her one of hers.

"I'm here at my third supermarket today," he begins his video, "and as you can see behind me, everything is completely wiped out, it's empty".

"This girl strolls by with her cart and she goes, 'Are you looking for toilet paper?' I go, 'Yeah, I actually am.' She goes, 'I just grabbed the last two a few minutes ago. Would you like one of mine? I'd rather you have one and I get one than you have nothing.'"

The son of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger continued, "I stood there after and felt, 'Wow. That was a real feel good moment that this girl was willing to do that and wanting to do that.'"

The actor, who said he told the girl to keep both packets, said it made him realise that people can always find ways to help each other.

"In such a weird time like right now, how us as Americans and us as a nation, as neighbours, as humans, can really come together to help one another," he shared. "We really find ways to help each other."

Schwarzenegger concluded by saying it's a difficult time with people being sent home from work and others not knowing if or when they'll have work again.

"It's a weird time for everybody so we really don't know what people are going through," he added.

"And that's the message here."
