How Olivia Newton-John's battle with cancer has 'helped hundreds and thousands of patients'
Olivia Newton-John revealed on Thursday morning that rumours of her death "have been greatly exaggerated... I'm doing great."
The 70-year-old entertainer, who is fighting her third bout of cancer, set the record straight after speculation this week that she is losing her battle with cancer.
Unconfirmed reports originating from Radar Online claimed the beloved singer's "bodily functions appear to be shutting down."
Another outlet reported she had "weeks, not months" to live, and that her daughter Chloe Lattanzi's wedding day had been brought forward.
But entertainment commentator Andrew Mercado says Newton-John is "definitely a fighter when it comes to illness."
"One of the last major TV interviews we saw of Olivia she has been quite up front about the fact that she does have cancer for the third time," Mercado told A Current Affair in an interview during Thursday night's episode.
Mercado continued, "She has helped hundreds and thousands of patients all around the world by holding charity events and opening her own cancer institute so Olivia is definitely a fighter in this area.
"I am sure that all Australians hope they are false and that she is with us for a lot longer."
Lattanzi is set to marry her long-time partner James Driskill soon.

Speaking to Woman's Day last year, Lattanzi revealed "Mum can't wait for us to get married and one day be a grandma."
And Mercado says, "Olivia would love to see that happen."
"Chloe is the apple of her mother's eye and I am sure that will be a fantastic day for them all," he continued.
