'Such a kind man': Katie Holmes' message after Dawson's Creek co-star Obi Ndefo's death aged 51
Katie Holmes has paid tribute to her late Dawson's Creek co-star Obi Ndefo after his death aged 51.
Ndefo's sister Nkem Ndefo confirmed her brother's death over the weekend, five years after a hit-and-run accident saw him lose both of his legs.
Taking to her Instagram Story, Holmes re-shared co-star Mary-Margaret Humes' tribute, writing over the top of it: "He was wonderful to work with and such a kind man. I send prayers and grace to his family. Rest in Peace."

Although Ndefo, after graduating from Yale University's drama school, held a plethora of roles in shows including 3rd Rock from the Sun, The West Wing and NCIS: Los Angeles, his most memorable performance was as Holmes' Joey Potter's brother-in-law Bodie Wells in Dawson's Creek.
Humes, who played Dawson Leery's mother Gale Leery in the show, had earlier shared her own tribute to Instagram, writing: "These words don't come easy. It's hard for me to conceive that you have left us, my dear friend. You always were and always will be a bright shining light."
"What an example of pure unfiltered love and tenacity you set as you faced life's challenges of recent," Humes' message continued.
"I will cherish all of our messages of love and support to each other over the past few years. Rest in peace sweet warrior."
Ndefo's sister confirmed his death on Facebook in an emotional post shared over the weekend alongside a photo of the duo.

"Heartbroken at the loss of my younger brother 💔 and knowing he's finally at peace ❤️🩹🕊️✨," Nkem Ndefo wrote.
No cause of death has been given at this stage.
The news comes after a hit-and-run accident in Los Angeles in 2019 saw Ndefo lose both of his legs.

He had spent the last five years focusing on his health and recovery, and had become a yoga teacher.
He told the Los Angeles Times of his outlook after the accident: "This is just so horrendous what happened to me, why would I compound this by feeling bad about it?"
In addition to acting, Ndefo founded Arts Alliance for Humanity, a non-profit organisation that supports arts education in communities and public schools.
