Wallabies player Nick Cummins set to become the next Bachelor

Rugby player Nick Cummins is set to become Australia’s most eligible bloke as he takes on the role as the next Bachelor.

The 30-year-old Wallabies player is hotly-tipped to take on the starring role on Channel 10's dating show when filming commences next week.

Taking a break from Rugby Union after racking up over 15 test matches, Cummins follows on from heartthrobs Matthew 'Matty J' Johnson and Tim Robards in an effort to match the popularity of Sophie Monk during her celebrity turn as The Bachelorette.

Initially viewed as a ratings risk, Monk, 38, had the highest ratings since the show started four years ago thanks to her lovable Aussie charm and sense of humour.

Despite some Ten executives expressing their concern for Cummins' potential, the sports star is a wide favourite amongst Rugby fans who love him for more than his skills on the field, but for his quick wit and tongue-in-cheek approach to life.

Famous for one liners like, "If I get a gig, I’m gonna go off like a cut snake," Cummins is no doubt a solid choice for the coveted role.

Taking on the moniker 'The Honey Badger' after watching a National Geographic documentary of the animal taking on a lion, the rugby player has been a hit with advertising executives.

Capturing the attention of Tourism Australia for which he is an ambassador, Cummins has also struck deals with Tradie Underwear & Workwear, Beef Australia, beer company Iron Jack and Head & Shoulders shampoo.

Regardless of his lucrative successes in Rugby and in the spotlight as the ultimate Aussie bloke, Cummins has yet to conquer his love life.

After splitting with his long-term girlfriend, Norwegian artist Martine Thomassen in 2016 after celebrating their five year anniversary, Cummins is believed to have remained single ever since.

On Wednesday more than 20 women will enter the mansion in the hope of falling in love and snaring Australia’s most eligible man.

Channel 10 has yet to comment on who the next Bachelor will be, however an announcement is expected next week.
