Movies coming out on Boxing Day 2018

There are a few ways to spend Boxing Day in Australia, and if swimming, shopping and cricket aren't for you, that leaves cooling down in the air-conditioned cinema with a frozen Coke and excellent blockbuster.

Aquaman

WHAT: Based on the DC Comics character, Aquaman is the heir to the throne of the undersea nation of Atlantis. After the events of Justice League, Aquaman must fight to retain the throne from opposing threats.

Cold War

WHAT: A historical period drama set during the 1950s, Cold War follows a passionate love story between two mismatched people. It won Best Director at Cannes 2018.

Holmes and Watson

WHAT: Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson must use their wits to stop rival James Moriarty from assassinating the Queen.

Kusama: Infinity

WHAT: An art doco about artist Yayoi Kusama and her journey from a conservative upbringing in Japan to finding fame in New York City.

Ralph Breaks the Internet

WHAT: Six years after the events of Wreck-It Ralph, Ralph and Vanellope, now friends, discover a wi-fi router in their arcade, taking them on a new adventure.

STARRING: John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Gal Gadot, Taraji P. Henson, Jane Lynch, Ed O'Neill, Hamish Blake.

The Favourite

WHAT: Queen Anne occupies the throne in early 18th century England, while her close friend Lady Sarah governs the country in her stead. A new servant Abigail -- and Sarah's cousin -- arrives and complicates things.

The Wild Pear Tree

WHAT: A passionate writer returns to the village where he was born and tries to scrape together the money he needs to become a published author. His father's debts catch up with him.

Vice

WHAT: A biographical film about Dick Cheney's desire to become the most powerful Vice President in America's history.
