Moana Hope and Isabella Carlstrom confirm split after four years of marriage

Former AFLW star Moana Hope has officially confirmed she has split from her wife of four years, Isabella Carlstrom.

The married couple, who share two children, were rumoured to have been separated for the last month – however, now both Hope and Carlstrom have confirmed the news on Instagram.

A day after Carlstrom shared the news on her Instagram, former AFLW star Hope, 35, also told followers the couple decided to call it quits on their marriage.

In a message shared to Instagram, Hope – who shares two children with Carlstorm – asked for privacy after announcing the news.

"Bella and I have separated," Hope began her message, posted on her Instagram Story.

"I understand that I live a public life and people may have questions, and whilst I live my life candidly, our main priority at this time is our beautiful children and I ask that your respect our privacy."

She added: "We will continue to co-parent as we transition into this new phase of our lives. I appreciate all the love and support I have received."

Carlstrom shared the news yesterday with her own message on Instagram.

The model wrote in a statement, "It's with a heavy heart that Mo and I have decided to separate. We will continue to raise our beautiful kids as we consciously uncouple."

She added: "We appreciate all the love and support over the years." 

The former couple share two children: Svea, two, and Ahi, aged 11 months.

Hope and Carlstrom tied the knot in 2019 after the footballer proposed the year earlier.

The pair then announced the incoming arrival of their first child in May 2020 and welcomed their second child in June last year.

Reports emerged last month that Hope and Carlstrom had quietly separated, however neither had confirmed the news until now.

The athlete appeared to subtly hint at the breakup by changing the emoji in her Instagram bio to a woman with two children. 

She also shared a few words of wisdom in a video, seemingly referencing heartbreak. 

"My mum would always say just follow your heart," Hope said. "It's simple but something that has stuck with me forever.

Hope and Carlstrom spoke to 9Honey last year about their love story, revealing the sweet details behind their romance.

"I knew she was something different. She was something special," Hope said at the time.

She also said there was "no mum in the world that mothers better" than Carlstrom.

"Bella makes me a better person, and has since day one," she said.
