"This means the world to me. I love you. Mission accomplished," she added.

The candid confession comes in response to a video circulating on social media of Adele sharing her love for the Wrecking Ball singer's recent soul-bearing track.

While performing at her Las Vegas show over the weekend, a fan captured the moment Adele gushed about Cyrus' song Used to Be Young.

"You know what else I remembered this morning happened to me? I am obsessed with Miley Cyrus' new song," she told the crowd.

"I've always been a big Miley Cyrus fan, and I've got such a soft spot for nostalgia and that song," she said before admitting that it might make her "tear up right now".

The Someone Like You singer called Cyrus a "legend", before adding "I love her."

Cyrus released her newest single on August 25 after an Instagram post announcement that shared a snippet of the very emotional track.

The ballad is a deeply personal one for the singer, that goes into her musical evolution and her past as a child actor.

In the music video for Used to Be Young, Cyrus makes reference to her Hannah Montana days by wearing a Disney shirt with the Mickey Mouse face on it.

The singer revealed that the song had been written during a time two years ago where she had "felt misunderstood."

"This song is about honouring who we've been, loving who we are & celebrating who we will become," the Party in the USA singer wrote on X after the release of the song.

"I feel proud when reflecting on my past and joyful when thinking about the future," she added before thanking her fans for their "steadfast support" and dedicating the track to them.

In the chorus of the song, Cyrus seems to reference the backlash she received as a twenty-year-old circa 2013, reflecting on being called 'crazy' and 'wild'.

The singer received backlash in the 2010s following the release of the Wrecking Ball music video and her controversial VMAs performance with Robin Thicke.

Cyrus has also released a Hulu TV special to celebrate her latest song, called Endless Summer Vacation: Continued (Backyard Sessions).
