Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth reportedly broke up because of her social life

Miley Cyrus did once warn the world that she can't be tamed. Unfortunately, Liam Hemsworth reportedly found out the hard way.

According to Page Six, the Aussie actor just couldn't keep up with the 26-year-old's busy social life, which is believed to have led to their separation at the weekend after just eight months of marriage. 

"[She was] acting like the 'old Miley' again," a source told the outlet, "and he wants a normal, settled-down life."

It's no secret that Hemsworth, 29, prefers the simple life. Cyrus, on the other hand, has never been a wallflower. And when it came time to releasing her new album, She Is Miley Cyrus, the singer went full-throttle promoting it to her fans.

"Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what's best while they both focus on themselves and careers," read a statement released to People magazine on Sunday.

While the couple just couldn't get their lives and schedules to sync up, the source said there was no third party that drove a wedge further between the pair. It was speculated that Cyrus had been hooking up with reality star Kaitlynn Carter in the days leading up to her split with Hemsworth. Not so, said Page Six.

"Miley was never unfaithful. She never hooked up with girls while she was married. It wasn't a part of the relationship," the source explained. "There was no hooking up behind his back or with his knowledge."

On August 12, Cyrus was seen publicly kissing 30-year-old Carter, who split up with her own husband, Brody Jenner, a few weeks earlier. Still, despite their steamy kiss, Cyrus and Carter maintain they are just friends. 

"They were with other friends, spent time by the pool and enjoyed a boat tour on the lake," the source told People of their current vacation in Lake Como, Italy. "Everyone seemed very happy. They were in a party mood, had cocktails and seemed to have a great time.

"Miley seemed especially great," the source added. "She was very happy and laughing a lot. You could tell she had fun. She was very close with Kaitlynn… [but she] "wasn't introducing Kaitlynn as her girlfriend. She only called Kaitlynn her friend."
