Why Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds skipped the 2019 Met Gala

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds turned down one of the world's most glamorous parties, but it was for a good reason!

The Hollywood stars were noticeably absent from yesterday's Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala in New York City, even as Lively, 31, and Reynolds, 42, were listed members of the 2019 host committee with fellow celebs Jennifer Lopez and Priyanka Chopra, among others.

But a People source revealed that it's because of their hectic schedules and growing family -- Lively stepped out last week with a growing baby bump at the New York City premiere of her husband's new film, Pokémon: Detective Pikachu!

"Between Ryan's schedule and Blake's pregnancy, they're pretty exhausted," the source said. "It's a lot juggling everything especially with two young kids."

The new addition marks their third child together: The Hollywood stars wed in 2012 and are already parents to four-year-old daughter James and two-year-old Inez.

This year would have marked Lively's 10th showing at the gala -- and the second time she was pregnant while walking the red carpet.

In 2016, She cleverly concealed her baby bump in a stunning pink Burberry gown that featured a dramatic cape accented with acrylic petals.
