'I don't need to be muscly': Melanie Lynskey hits back at model Adrianne Curry for bodyshaming her on The Last Of Us

Melanie Lynskey has hit back at model Adrianne Curry for appearing to body-shame her appearance on the hit TV series The Last of Us.

The New Zealand-born actress, 45, didn't hold back when she called out the inaugural America's Next Top Model winner for criticising her casting on the show.

"her body says life of luxury...not post apocolyptic warlord. where is linda hamilton when you need her?" Curry, 40, wrote in a since-deleted tweet comparing Lynskey's appearance to Hamilton's buff Sarah Connor character in Terminator.

However, fans of TLOU would know Lynskey's character Kathleen is a new figure specifically created for the HBO series and did not appear in the original video 2013 game the show is based on. And Lynskey happily pointed this out in her clapback.

"Firstly- this is a photo from my cover shoot for InStyle magazine, not a still from HBO's The Last Of Us," she tweeted with a screenshot of Curry's deleted post.

"And I'm playing a person who meticulously planned & executed an overthrow of [government agency]  FEDRA. I am supposed to be SMART, ma'm. I don't need to be muscly. That's what henchmen are for."

"I understand that some people are mad that I'm not the typical casting for this role," Lynskey continued. "That's thrilling to me. Other than the moments after action is called, when you feel like you're actually in someone else's body, the most exciting part of my job is subverting expectations."

Curry swiftly responded, claiming Lynskey took her tweet out of context by not screenshotting her post in its entirety.

"She cropped out what I said about her perfect hour glass frame being the most desirable to men. Seems quite manipulative Also, she is NOT her character," Curry replied to users who urged her to apologise to the actress. "Actors cant allow people to not like their characters? I am DONE."

Both tweets have also been deleted.
