'Extremely difficult decision': Noughties rock legends can Aussie show at 11th hour
They were the sound that defined a generation of noughties rockers – but now, genre-bending US ensemble Linkin Park's shock move has left Aussie fans despondent.
The In the End hitmakers announced the last-minute cancellation of their Adelaide show just three hours prior, citing an "illness in the band," as the reason behind the "extremely difficult decision."
Their Adelaide show was set to be the midway point of their From Zero world tour's Australian leg – before it was unceremoniously canned at the 11th hour.

"We have made the extremely difficult decision to cancel tonight's show due to an illness in the band," a statement posted to the band's social media read.
"The Australian tour has been incredible so far and we are devastated that we're unable to perform for our fans in Adelaide. Unfortunately, the show will not be rescheduled."
They went on to say that the decision to cancel the show was "not one [they] take lightly," proceeding to apologise to the over-10,000 fans planning to attend.
"Tickets will be refunded at the point of sale, and you will be contacted directly by your ticketing company with more information. Thank you for understanding," the statement concluded.

Fans in attendance at Linkin Park's Melbourne show recalled lead singer Emily Armstrong "struggling" near the end, with the band proceeding to cut multiple songs from the setlist as a result.
"We sensed that she was not feeling well on Tuesday's show in Melbourne and yet she did so well to keep the show going and the band still put on an amazing show," one fan said.
Another noted the singer appeared to be having trouble at the Brisbane show as well, saying "she seemed to be trying to save her voice."
There was a flurry of comments from disappointed fans on social media following the announcement, with one saying her 15-year-old daughter was "gutted" after "spending money on a new outfit to go."
Armstrong is the newest addition to the band, having joined in 2024 following the tragic death by suicide of original lead vocalist Chester Bennington in 2017.
This tour is the band's first in seven years, and the first without Bennington, drummer and co-founder Rob Bourdon, and lead guitarist Brad Delson.

Linkin Park's Australian tour will finish with two shows at Sydney's Qudos Bank Arena on Saturday and Sunday night.
At this stage, these shows are expected to go ahead as planned.
