Liam Hemsworth shares rare Instagram photo amid split with Miley Cyrus

Liam Hemsworth is having a blast with man's best friend amid his split from wife Miley Cyrus.

The 29-year-old Melbourne native shared a rare snap to his Instagram early Saturday: a photo of himself at the beach with a friendly-looking pooch.

"Luck dragon," the Isn't It Romantic star captioned the pic.

He's shared very little on social media since filing for divorce from Cyrus, 26, in late August, after less than eight months of marriage. He did break his silence on the split in days before on August 12, where he wrote a message on Instagram that confirmed that he and the 'Slide Away' singer had separated.

"Hi all. Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward," the message began. 

"This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and Love."

Hemsworth's puppy love snap follows after Spanish actress Elsa Pataky, wife of Liam's brother Chris Hemsworth, reportedly said he "deserves much better."

According to US Hola! magazine, while speaking at a press conference in her hometown of Madrid, the 43-year-old Fate of the Furious star told media, "My brother-in-law, well… After a relationship that you've dedicated 10 years to, he's a little bit down, but he's coping well, he's a strong boy and he deserves the best. I think he deserves much better."

Cyrus has moved on from Hemsworth, and as has been dating singer-songwriter and Gold Coast native Cody Simpson, 22, since October.
