Kylie Jenner is officially the world's youngest billionaire, according to Forbes magazine.

The 21-year-old cosmetics mogul broke the record previously held by Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who in 2007 reached billionaire status at just 23.

Last year, the finance publication placed Jenner as the 27th richest, self-made woman in the US, with an estimated fortune of US$900 million. And the Kylie Cosmetics founder and owner certainly lived up to expectations.

In an interview with Paper magazine last month, Jenner said that her parents, Kris Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner, had instilled a strong work ethic in her since she was a child. In fact, the makeup mogul revealed that she was "cut off" from the family financially at just 15, so she spent "every last dime that I had" to start her cosmetics company in back in 2015.

Because of this, Jenner --who owns 100 per cent of her business -- believes she's earned the "self-made" label Forbes has given her.

"My parents told me I needed to make my own money, it's time to learn how to save and spend your own money, stuff like that," Jenner told Paper. "What I'm trying to say is I did have a platform, but none of my money is inherited."

Also making Forbes' 2018 The Richest People in the World List is 28-year-old Snapchat founder (and Miranda Kerr's husband) Evan Spiegel, who's worth US$2.1 million. Meanwhile, 55-year-old Amazon boss Jeff Bezos topped the list as the world's richest person for the second year in a row, with his fortune growing from US$19 billion in 2018 to a staggering US$131 billion this year.
