Kid Rock is unapologetic about his drunken rant against Oprah Winfrey and Kathy Griffin

Kid Rock had some fiery things to say about Oprah Winfrey and Kathie Lee Gifford years ago. And he isn't sorry about it.

This week, the rocker told Fox host Tucker Carlson during an interview for Life of a Rockstar: Kid Rock that he has no regrets about the 2019 incident in which his alcohol-fuelled, expletive-filled rant about the pair was reported on by TMZ.

"A drunk man's words are a sober man's thoughts," Rock told Carlson. "I own what I said."

"I don't apologise to anybody," the musician continued. "I'm not an Oprah Winfrey fan. I got drunk and f--kin' next thing, I'm on stage [saying] 'f--k Oprah'…"

One thing he said he did feel bad about is that he mistook comedian Kathy Griffin for former TV host Kathie Lee Gifford, while lashing out against a controversial photo shoot in which Griffin held a fake, bloody heady of then President Donald Trump.

"I was trying to go after Kathy Griffin, you know, for holding up Trump's head," he recalled. "When it comes back on TMZ or whatever a few weeks later I'm like 'Oh man, I like Kathie Lee Gifford.' We've been kind of friendly throughout the years."

Following his rant, Rock predicted he would be accused of being racist for his comments about Winfrey, but insisted he wasn't. For those who may say, "'Well, I'm pretty sure Kid Rock's a racist, I'm, like, 'Fine. F--koff,' sideways."

"I'm not the bad guy in this equation," he said. "I'm the f---in guy you want, like, hey, he's pretty cool."

At the time, Rock doubled down on his comments about Winfrey on Twitter. 

"My people tried to get me to do The Oprah Winfrey show years ago and her people wanted me to write down 5 reasons why I loved her and her show…🏳️‍🌈 I said f--- that and her. End of story."
