The news comes following a number of personal challenges for Spacey.

The once-successful star of hits such as American Beauty, House of Cards and The Usual Suspects recently described his current financial situation as "not great".

He then went on to say he had been living out of Airbnbs and hotels after his home of 12 years in Baltimore was foreclosed last year.

However, days later he was forced to deny claims he was "homeless".

"But in light of the recent articles claiming I'm 'homeless', I feel the need to respond."
