“I always said ‘I’m never going to drink, I’m never going to do that, I’m fine without it’. And I ended up exactly the same as my dad,” she told Paul C Brunson on the We Need to Talk Podcast.

“It’s something I even worry about with my son. I never want him to go through what I went through. Ever.

“I want him to be confident enough in himself that he never even feels that kind of pain that he thinks that he needs to numb.”

The reality star is now sober, but has been very open about her previous struggles with drug and substance abuse issues.

In a 2021 interview on Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett Smith, her daughter, Willow Smith; and her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, she revealed her first opiate-based drug addiction was with Vicodin.

The drug was prescribed to her after an operation to remove her tonsils when she was 13, sending her on a lifelong battle.

“It felt like life gave me a hug,” she said at the time.

She went on to explain that her addiction spiralled into her misusing percocet and later, heroin.

Kelly also discussed her drug and alcohol battles before in her 2017 memoir and on podcasts like Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert

Her addiction became the heaviest during her mum’s cancer battle and after her dad nearly died in an ATV accident in 2003.

Her father, Ozzy, also suffered from decades of drug and alcohol abuse. The rock star died last year aged 76.

After the Black Sabbath front man was kicked out of the band for his alleged drug-fuelled escapades, he forged his own solo career, which was hugely successful.

In 1982, Ozzy once bit the head off a live bat during a performance. He later revealed he thought it was a rubber bat.

Seven years later, Ozzy attempted to kill his wife Sharron, Kelly’s mum, while high on drugs.

The pair openly talked about the incident in their documentary  Biography: The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne.

Sharon explained that in a totally calm state, Ozzy looked at her and said “We’ve come to a decision that you’ve got to die,” before lunging at her and choking her.

“He was calm, very very calm and he lunged across at me,” she said. “I felt the stuff on the table and felt the panic button and just pressed it. Next thing I know the cops were there.”

She later dropped the charged against him after he was put into a treatment facility for six months.
