Kelly Clarkson reveals she's stepping back from her talk show to 'prioritise' her children months after their father's death

Kelly Clarkson has announced she's stepping back from hosting her popular talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, after seven seasons.

The former American Idol star, 43, shared a statement on her official Instagram page and the TV program's page explaining her decision to quit.

The Because of You singer revealed she's doing so to ''prioritise'' her two children, which comes after the death of their father and her late ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

Blackstock died in Texas on August 7 last year, at the age of 48, following a battle with melanoma.

''There have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons," Clarkson wrote in the statement.

She praised the band and crew and fans in her statement and added: "Because of all of that, this was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting TKCS.'"

"Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritise my kids which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.

"This isn't goodbye. I'll still be making music, playing shows here and there and you may catch me on The Voice from time to time … you never know where I might show up next.

"But for now, I want to thank y'all so much for allowing our show to be a part of your lives, and for believing in us and hanging with us for seven incredible years."

When Blackstock died, a statement was released confirming the news.

"It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away," a statement shared with US outlets including People read.

"Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family.

In the days following his death, it was confirmed to People by a coroner that he died of melanoma and natural causes.
