Kelly Clarkson postpones major shows for family reasons: 'I normally keep my personal life private'

Kelly Clarkson has issued a rare statement and revealed she's postponing some of her Las Vegas residency show dates due a family emergency.

The singer and TV host, 43, revealed that her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock has been unwell, so she is pulling back on her residency commitments to be there for their kids.

"Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas," the former American Idol star's statement, shared on her Instagram, read.

"While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.

"I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding."

A fan commented underneath: "What an incredible human being you are!!! Sincerely!!"

It remains unclear what illness her ex-husband has been battling and how he is doing.

On July 5, the Since U Been Gone singer announced she was postponing two shows because "the prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice".

"I want the shows to be perfect for y'all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve," she said.

The pair share daughter River Rose, 11, and son Remington 'Remy' Alexander, nine.

Clarkson filed for divorce in 2020, after seven years of marriage.

It was reported last year by US Weekly that the singer had made her final spousal support payment to her ex.

It was also previously reported that the hitmaker won a lawsuit against her ex-husband for 'unlawful' acts on her behalf.
