Kanye West has officially channelled Cher and Madonna and fully embraced the mononym — except, it's now more than a stage name.

The rapper, formerly known legally by his birth name Kanye Omari West, will now be known simply as Ye, without any middle or last name.

Per court documents obtained by TMZ, Judge Michelle Williams Court approved the 44-year-old's petition for a name change.

Ye filed the original petition on August 24, saying that he wanted to change his name for "personal reasons."

Socially and professionally, Ye has gone by the moniker for years.

In 2018, he released an album by the same name, and prior to the album's release, he had already used it at times as a shortened stage name.

"I believe 'ye' is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means you. So it's I'm you, I'm us, it's us," the Donda artist said.

"It went from being Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, our everything."

Although Ye has changed his name for "personal reasons," his soon-to-be-ex-wife Kim Kardashian is understood to be keeping the 'West' part of her surname despite her impending divorce.

Sources say Kardashian, 40, believes it is important to keep Ye's former surname so she can continue sharing the same surname with their children: North, eight, Saint, five, Chicago, three, and Psalm, two.

Although Ye's name change means he no longer shares the same one with his four children, Kardashian reportedly supports her ex's wishes to change his name regardless.
