Joshua Jackson has given Dawson’s Creek fans exactly what they want with a gushing “appreciation post” for longtime friend, ex and co-star Katie Holmes.
The pair, both 47, played fan-favourite slow-burn couple Pacey and Joey on the teen drama and themselves dated for about a year from 1998 to 1999 – and decades on they have reunited.

They have just worked together again on upcoming movie Happy Hours, which Holmes also wrote and directed, about a former couple who cross paths again and debate whether it is worth rekindling their relationship.
“It takes many hands to make a movie. And I am thankful to every hand that touched this one. But… this is a Katie appreciation post,” Jackson posted to social media, alongside a smiling photo of Holmes from the film’s Tribeca Festival premiere at the weekend.
“It is because of her light that all those hands were brought together.
“Because of her, the generosity of her spirit, that she wanted to bring this wonderful, loving, hopeful story into the world,” he said.
He was also grateful for the opportunity to work together again, 22 years after Dawson’s Creek came to an end in 2003.

“She is such an incredible friend that she made the space for us to be able to play together again after all these years,” he said.
“I was amazed when we were kids and she was the bravest, most raw of us telling the truth in every moment.
“And I am amazed now to watch her as a leader, with the same commitment to kindness, strength through compassion, to truth and the essential hopefulness of existence.”

“Beautifully said… I love how close you both still are, in a world full of chaos, your friendship is priceless,” one wrote.
“Such beautiful words. You two really have an entire not-so-small crowd smiling in the background because it’s impossible not to notice how special and deeply connected you are,” said another.
“Joey and Pacey forever!!!” shared a third.

Jackson’s words come after the duo put on a cosy display at the New York premiere, holding hands on the red carpet as they spoke to media about their connection.
“The time that we spent together when we were young is very precious to both of us,” Jackson told Cherry the Geek TV.
“And [it] is one of the core personal and professional relationships in my life.”

Holmes and Jackson dated for about a year while filming Dawson’s Creek, but had already broken up by the time their characters became a couple on the series.
While many fans would love to see them rekindle, it appears their friendship is set to remain just that.
The day after their film premiere, Jackson was spotted strolling arm in arm through New York City with model Olivia Burgess.
