’80s heartthrob makes rare podcast appearance and fans are all saying the same thing
’80s heartthrob John Cusack has made a rare podcast appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast to chat about his decades long film career. But there’s only one thing fans are talking about.
Best known for films such as Sixteen Candles and Say Anything, Cusack sparked intrigue from fans as they speculated he was debuting a new look.

Fans couldn’t help but share their opinions on Cusack’s appearance in the comments, with many theorising that the star had undergone plastic surgery.
But for every speculative comment, there were plenty of fans defending Cusack, labelling the comments focused on his appearance as “horrid”.
“These comments are horrid 😔 Leave John alone 🥲 He’s a fantastic actor and a wonderful person. ❤️🙌 My fave,” one person wrote.
“This is such a great excerpt of this interview. Can’t believe so many people are focusing on his looks? Strange society we’ve become,” another added.
The interview saw Cusack sit down with host Josh Horowitz for more than an hour to discuss everything from his iconic speech in Say Anything to the countless casting rumours that have followed him for decades.
For years fans have theorised that Cusack was offered, and ultimately denied, roles in three major projects – Pulp Fiction, Breaking Bad and The Breakfast Club. Speaking with Horowitz, he finally cleared the air.
Despite having starred John Hughes’ Sixteen Candles, Cusack denied that the famed director had ever offered him a role in The Breakfast Club.

But, he did admit that there was “one time at one point where, I think, [Hughes] thought he wanted me to do it, and I think I would have done it.”
He said he enjoyed the script but the casting simple “didn’t go that way.“
When it comes to Breaking Bad, Cusack said he was never offered the role and turned it down, joking that the rumours made him question if it “did happen and I blacked out”.

“I met Vince Gilligan in New York, and I was like, ‘Hey, man, I love your show, it’s awesome. I gotta know, everyone is saying you offered me that – did you offer me that?’” Cusack recalled.
“He was like, ‘No.’ I was like, ‘Thank you, Vince!’”
In terms ofPulp Fiction, Cusack met with director Quentin Tarantino about the film, but admitted that he was ultimately never offered the role.
