Actor Joey Lawrence announces engagement to actress Samantha Cope one year after divorcing wife of 15 years

Nineties star Joey Lawrence has announced his engagement to girlfriend Samantha Cope. The Blossom alum, 45, confirmed the happy news with People magazine.

"Coming out of what has been one of the most unpredictable years for everyone, neither one of us could ever have imagined the blessing of meeting your best friend and soulmate. But that's what happened!" he told the outlet. 

"To fall asleep every night laughing together is now the new normal. And to not only share a life together but to be able to create together and work together is truly fulfilling. We are beyond excited to see what the future holds for us."

Lawrence met 34-year-old Cope last year on the set of a Lifetime movie. Their engagement comes one year after he filed for divorce from Chandie Yawn-Nelson, his wife of nearly 15 years. The exes share daughters Charleston, 15, and Liberty, 11. 

This will be Lawrence's third marriage. He was also married to Michelle Vella from 2002 to 2005. 

In a previous interview earlier this year with People, Lawrence also opened up about his new romance with Cope. 

"Life is an amazing journey. I was married a very long time, married young and everything and then had my kids, which were great and they are amazing, and then life is life and is imperfect," he said. 

"This journey that we go on is certainly an imperfect journey on this world of ours, and you have to just get used to that idea that this is an imperfect journey, that's what it is. Last year was just a brutal year for everybody, but personally too, it was a brutal year. And then when you least expect it, you meet the greatest person ever, truly."
