'You know better than that': Jennifer Lopez shuts down question about Ben Affleck split rumours

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have been plagued by divorce rumours over the past few weeks because they haven't been seen together for more than a month.

There have also been anonymous insiders quoted by multiple US magazines saying a split is "impending".

But when asked about the reports by a journalist, the actress shut them down.

"You know better than that," Lopez said after laughing off the question during a press conference in Mexico while promoting her new movie Atlas.

Much was made about JLo's recent solo appearances on the red carpet both in LA and Mexico City as she launched the sci-fi film, which she also produced.

While Affleck doesn't use social media, his ex-wife Jennifer Garner posted about their eldest child graduating from college on the day of Lopez's LA premiere, suggesting Affleck may have been with Garner and their daughter Violet instead.

But one journalist decided to ask point-blank.

"Is your divorce with Ben Affleck real? These rumours?" they asked.

"What is the truth? [for the Mexican press], what is the truth of the situation?"

Lopez's co-star Simu Liu was also not keen on that line of questioning.

"Okay we're not doing that," the Barbie star said, before wrapping up proceedings.

"C'mon, don't come in with that energy, please."

As the duo stood up to leave the press conference, Lopez joked with the journalists in Spanish.

"No one asked me anything in Spanish, but okay," she said.

The public's fascination with the couple, nicknamed Bennifer, was at fever pitch in 2021 after they rekindled their romance, 20 years after calling off their first wedding.

Lopez and Affleck were engaged in 2002 before splitting just days before their 2004 nuptials under the pressure of a relationship in the spotlight.

The couple got back in touch after Lopez called off her engagement with Alex Rodriguez in March 2021.

They then surprised fans by getting engaged again in April 2022 and eloping in Las Vegas in July before having a lavish wedding in August to cement their reunion.
