Jennifer Lopez announces engagement to Ben Affleck

Jennifer Lopez has announced her engagement to Ben Affleck.

Taking to social media the singer teased a "major announcement" in her personal newsletter On The JLo, days after she was spotted wearing a sparkler on her ring finger.

In a clip to fans in the newsletter, Lopez is seen admiring what appears to be a green diamond, saying: "You're perfect".

The singer also seems to confirm the engagement with a diamond ring emoji added next to her name on both Instagram and Twitter.

In the teaser posted to social media, the Marry Me star tells the camera: "So I have a really exciting and special story to share".

Lopez then directs fans to her site, describing it as a place "where I share my most personal things, and this one is definitely..." she trails off before plugging the link one more time.

The couple, who are also known by the moniker Bennifer, rekindled their romance last April.

They previously dated in July 2002, before getting engaged in November that year but called off their nuptials just days before their September 2003 wedding, ultimately splitting in January 2004.

Affleck, 49, was previously married to actress Jennifer Garner and the couple share three children together - Violet, 16, Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, 10.

Lopez, 52, was previously married to Ojani Noa, Cris Judd and singer Marc Anthony, whom she has 14-year-old twins with — Max and Emme.

The couple rekindled their romance shortly after Lopez's high profile split from ex-fiancé Alex Rodriguez.

It's understood Affleck reached out to check Lopez was OK and it built from there.

While they were spotted kissing backstage at the Met Gala last May and made their unofficial Instagram debut on Leah Remini's profile last July, they confirmed their relationship on JLo's birthday.

The 52-year-old shared a series of bikini shots, one of which showed the couple kissing.

Then, they made their red carpet debut at the Venice Film Festival in September at the premiere of Affleck's film The Last Duel.

It marked the pair's first major red carpet together in over 15 years — with their last being at the premiere of Gigli in July 2003, the movie they met on.

Since then, Affleck showed his support for his leading lady at the premiere of her film, Marry Me earlier this year and was beaming in the front row as JLo accepted the Icon Award at the iHeartRadio Awards last month.

Speaking about their second chance at love, Affleck told The Wall Street Journal: "I am very lucky in my life in that I have benefited from second chances, and I am aware that other people don't even get first chances."

"I've had second chances in my career. I've had second chances as a human being. Life is difficult, and we are always failing and hopefully learning from those failures," he says.

While Lopez echoed a similar sentiment in a recent interview.

"I feel so lucky and happy and proud to be with him," Lopez told People.

"It's a beautiful love story that we got a second chance."

Lopez said the couple is more protective of their relationship this time around, compared to back in the day, when everything they did became tabloid fodder.

"We both were like, 'Wow, we're so happy and we don't want any of that to come into play again,'" she said.

"We're older now, we're smarter, we have more experience, we're at different places in our lives, we have kids now, and we have to be very conscious of those things. We're so protective because it is such a beautiful time for all of us."
