Jennifer Garner on her panic attack-inducing Oscars dress: 'These people move your ribs and liver to the side'
Beauty is pain but this is just ridiculous.
Jennifer Garner has explained the discomfort that she endured to wear her custom-made Versace gown at this year's Academy Awards.
In a clip from The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Jen, 43, confessed that while her Oscars red-carpet glamour may have looked effortless, she was quietly freaking out.
"See how I have a waist right there?" Jen said. "I don't have one in real life anymore.
"What they do is they move your organs around. There are basically two men who come in with screwguns, and they screwed me into a metal corset - this isn't true, but it was a metal corset and it did take two Italian people.
"The next thing you know, my ribs were compressed. It's very intense. It's not like Scarlet O'Hara."
Host Jimmy Fallon's naiveté about the whole scenario is just adorable. At one point he even refers to Spanx as "a spank".
"No dude," Jen said. "It's so intense. There's metal inside and these people just kind of move your ribs and they move your liver out of the side and they pop you in."
In fact, the pain was so bad that she considered getting up and leaving, but her friend warned her not to.
"If you stand up they'll think you're Kanye West," Jen's friend told her. "They'll think you're protesting."
So, erm, how did she even go to the bathroom in a gown like that? Well, apparently that experience was akin "worse than being a toddler in a snowsuit".
"This would never happen to a guy," Jimmy joked.
Yep, seriously, is it even worth it?
