Jenna Dewan addresses Channing Tatum split after Ellen DeGeneres' accidental slip

Jenna Dewan has largely kept her split from Channing Tatum out of the public eye, but she did sound off publicly following an innocent mistake by friend Ellen DeGeneres.

Dewan, 37, joined by Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo, and Derek Hough, appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (airing Tuesday in the US) to chat about their TV competition series World of Dance. But as DeGeneres was introducing Dewan, she called her by her married name, "Jenna Dewan Tatum."

Realising her mistake, DeGeneres told Dewan sincerely, "I have to say, before we go to break, I’m so sorry."

"I introduced you and it was such a habit, and I have to say the way that you and Channing are handling everything is beautiful for your daughter and the statements have been great. And I apologise."

DeGeneres, who is close with both Dewan and Tatum, continued, "I just have known both of you for so long, and I’m so used to saying, but..."

Dewan graciously accepted her friend's apology, and appeared to get a little choked up as she responded. "Honestly, thank you and everybody for all the love and support. It’s truly, so amazing. It’s all love!" As she said this, Lopez gave her a supportive hug.

In recent months, Dewan has dropped Tatum from her Instagram handle, even as she and her estranged husband continue to follow each other on the site. In fact, Tatum recently "liked" a photo she shared of herself promoting Danskin lingerie.

Dewan and Tatum met on the set of their 2006 film Step Up.

The former couple, who share four-year-old daughter Everly, announced their separation on April 2, after nearly nine years of marriage.
