Jamie Oliver accidentally gets daughter's age wrong in birthday tribute

He may be an expert in the kitchen, but Jamie Oliver has a bit of work to do before he completely masters social media.

The celebrity chef took to Instagram to wish his eldest daughter Poppy a happy 18th birthday yesterday — the only problem is, she was actually turning 19.

"Happy 18th Birthday Poppy!! I love you so much wish I could be with you today have a great day honey," the 45-year-old originally captioned the sweet snap of him and Poppy, alongside a heart emoji.

Quickly realising his blunder, the father-of-five quickly edited the caption to say her actual age, but not before it was seen by eagle-eyed fans who didn't hold back in laughing at his mistake.

"To be fair it's like 2020 should be skipped over and deleted anyway!" one person commented.

"It's because 2020 doesn't count in our ages," pointed out another, with others agreeing, some adding it was "peak dad energy."

Oliver's wife Jools also took to social media to wish Poppy a happy birthday, revealing it was the first time she hasn't seen her daughter on her birthday, due to her being away at university.

"I know I said the 18th crown was the last one but you didn't look too happy so of course I am going to carry on," the former model wrote, alongside a laughing face emoji.

"Love and miss you so much. We are so very proud of you we have lots of surprises for you when you get home," she continued. "Have a wonderful day my darling."

The couple also share daughters Daisy, 17, and Petal, 11, as well as sons Buddy, 10, and River, four.
