Jackman plays the lead role in the gritty reimagining filmed in the equally gritty backdrop of Ireland.
Grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder, Robin Hood finds himself gravely injured after a battle he thought would be his last. In the hands of a mysterious woman, he is offered a chance at salvation.
Co-star Comer plays Sister Brigid, the mystical woman who nurses Hood back to health. But as connections grown, Hood is forced to confront his brutal, violent past.
“These were the hardest action sequences I’ve ever done in life,” said Jackman on the red carpet, speaking with studio A24.
“And I’m thrilled and proud of them, they were not enjoyable to shoot. There was a lot of mud, which I’m still getting out of places a year later,” he smiled as he revealed.

“But they were meant to be brutal, they were meant to be violent and unsettling, and they felt a little bit like that doing them.”
The actor said he was drawn to the role of Robin Hood because it was “a complete deconstruction of the myth” behind the character. He said it makes us question “what is myth” and why are the stories we’ve grown up with so important to us.
“And what is the power of story in itself,” he replied.
The Death of Robin Hood is in cinemas June 18.
