Hayden Panettiere’s ex-fiancé makes ‘urgent’ bid to protect star’s $8 million inheritance

Hayden Panettiere’s ex-fiancé, Wladimir Klitschko, has filed an “urgent” request to protect their 11-year-old daughter Kaya’s inheritance, following Panettiere’s death at 35.

The former professional boxer, 50, who dated the Nashville actress on-and-off for nine years, has asked the court to be named guardian of Kaya’s estate while she remains a minor.

At the time of her passing, Panettiere had a multi-million dollar net worth estimated between $8.5 million to $14 million.

Klitschko filed the paperwork in Los Angeles on Thursday (Friday AEST), according to new court documents obtained by Page Six.

Klitschko said Kaya, who lives in Ukraine with her father, “is entitled to the entirety” of the late Hero star’s assets, the outlet reported.

He noted there is currently no personal representative appointed to protect Panettiere’s home and contents.

According to the documents, the request has been placed as “urgent and essential” that Klitschko be appointed the temporary guardian of Kaya’s estate.

This is so the former fiancé, who holds custody of Kaya, may “receive, manage and hold” their daughter’s assets on her behalf.

The urgent request came as investigations surrounding the late Ice Princess star’s death continued.

Klitschko “believes” federal agents have reportedly entered Panettiere’s Los Angeles residence and “removed property” belonging to the estate, as per the court papers.

Panettiere died on August 16 at the age of 36 after being found unresponsive at a property in Greenville, South Carolina.

On September 24, the star’s official cause of death was listed as an “accident” caused by “the toxic effects” of multiple drugs including fentanyl.

The actress was farewelled at an emotional celebration of life service on September 19, during an intimate service in Malibu. 

It’s been reported that Klitschko and Kaya, who reside in Ukraine, did not attend the service.

Panettiere and Klitschko dated on-and-off from 2009 to 2018.

That same year, she signed over full custody of Kaya to Klitschko, amid her battle with postpartum depression, alcoholism and addiction.

She spoke of her and Kaya’s “incredible bond” before her death, in an episode of On Purpose with Jay Shetty in May.

“I go travel as much as I can. I see her. I do spend a lot of time on FaceTime with her, but we talk about really deep things,” she said.

The Nashville star’s former fiancé remembered Panettiere in a heartbreaking post shared just days after her sudden death, calling her “an important part of my life and the mother of our daughter, Kaya.”

“Our family is going through a time of profound shock and grief,” he wrote at the time. “The announcement of Hayden’s tragic death saddens me deeply. She left this world far too soon.”

 “To our daughter Kaya, I will always speak of her mother with respect and make sure she remembers the person she was.”
