Hacks star Robby Hoffman has admitted she stormed out of the 2025 Emmys after losing to her co-star Julianne Nicholson.

Hoffman, 36, said she was “the biggest sore loser” after being really confident in her chances at last year’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

“We’re the first award up. I immediately lost, and we woke up with all the gusto in the world,” she told Drag Race star Trixie Mattel on the Bald and the Beautiful podcast.

Hoffman, who played Randi on the beloved comedy, was nominated in the outstanding guest actress in a comedy series category, but lost to 54-year-old Nicholson for her role as Mary “Dance Mum” Alice.

The category was stacked with big names, also featuring nominations for Olivia Colman, Jamie Lee Curtis, Cynthia Erivo and Zoë Kravitz.

Even so, Hoffman said she and her sister were “beyond surprised” she lost.

“I walk in, I’m already like, ‘Where am I going to put the Emmy?’ We lose immediately, my sister goes, ‘We don’t need this shit,’ and pushes me out. She grabs me by the arm. ‘We’re leaving this shit’,” she recalled.

But she did have to return to the room due to a contractual obligation.

“I had to present cinematography. I said, ‘Nah, I don’t want to do that anymore.’ They said, ‘No, it’s part of the program!’” she said.

“I was like, well, my circumstances changed. My circumstances have changed! I’m not in the mood, and they want me to read whatever’s on this teleprompter. I go, one thing I know, I’m not saying whatever the f--- they have me on there saying.”

However, Hoffman calmed down backstage and successfully presented The Studio with its outstanding cinematography award, joking on stage that it was “criminal” to have her hold an award to hand to someone else.

“You entered the room like your whole family was murdered,” the RuPaul’s Drag Race star said.

“You sat on the couch, and it felt like you were in shock that you were actually upset about not winning. You’d said to me, ‘I didn’t think I cared and now I lost and I’m upset.’”

Despite her disappointment, Hoffman said Nicholson was a very deserving winner.
