Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose halts concert as he recovers from procedure

Axl Rose stopped his latest concert after experiencing some discomfort to speak about his experience with TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorder.

The Guns N’ Roses frontman, 64, was performing at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium when he paused the set to explain the challenges of living with TMJ after he underwent a procedure to correct the disorder.

“I had really crazy TMJ,” Rose told the crowd of thousands.

“When I’m singing it’s kind of like somebody’s in my ear, like Bugs Bunny is eating in my ear a carrot and celery and shit’s popping around.”

The rocker explained he underwent a procedure just days before.

“Now [the left] side of my mouth is still f--king numb,” he said.

“It gets interesting. It’s challenging.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, TMJ disorders “can cause pain in the jaw joint and in the muscles that control jaw movement.” It can cause pain, clicking or popping sounds, stiffness, and trouble moving the jaw.

Rose went on to explain that as a singer his experience with TMJ was very different from most with the disorder.

“None of the doctors, none of the dentists there’s really no way to describe what you do, and with TMJ they tell ya, ‘Try not to chew!’ OK, I won’t eat,” he said, according to Billboard.

“Second, you really can’t describe – you stretch your face in so many ways trying to sing like I do!”

“So you hear all these sounds while you’re singing, and you hear sounds that, like, make you go, ‘I really probably shouldn’t be doing what I’m doing, because that sound sounds like my jaw’s gonna fall off or go to the side or get stuck that way,’” continued Rose. “Which, that would be pretty funny!”

Guns N’ Roses’ current tour continues in North America through to September.

The band will then touch down in Australia to perform a string of shows across the country in November and December.
