Celeb-backed Fyre Festival promised luxury, looked more like The Hunger Games: Watch

A little less Four Seasons, a little more The Hunger Games.

That's what some are describing as this weekend's inaugural Fyre Festival in the Bahamas. Originally scheduled for this weekend and next weekend at the Exuma Cays, the event promised a "premium" concert-going experience topped off with meals catered by a celebrity chef.

But things certainly didn't go as planned.

Buzz for Fyre Fest had been been building for weeks. 'I'm Real' rapper Ja Rule was a co-founder, and celebrities Alessandra Ambrosio, Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Hailey Baldwin and Emily Ratajkowski promoted the sold-out event. Tickets ranged from $5,000 to $250,000.

But once concertgoers arrived onsite for Weekend 1 on Friday, they were met with a garbage-strewn festival site overrun by feral dogs, according to reports. Luxury "glamping tents" and villas more resembled "mattresses on some type of frame" and "disaster relief tents", one attendee told Billboard.

A Wall Street Journal report revealed that trouble for the festival began to mount as early as April, due to "miscommunications" over payment deadlines with vendors.

Organizers say they'll be issuing refunds for attendees and announced on the festival's website that the event has been postponed due to "circumstances beyond our control".
